Pictured is the MRI magnetic imaging equipment at The Seaman Centre, Foothills Hospital, Calgary, which is moved in and out of the neurosurgical operating suite.
The National Research Council asked F. A. Roberts & Associates Ltd to design transport systems to move the equipment in the presence of high magnetic fields and with the demanding conditions of a neurosurgical operating room.
Following two prototype systems the system pictured was the first fully functional system in a hospital setting. Frank Roberts, P. Eng is one of the co-patent holders for the system.
